JAKOB DREYER 

Jakob Dreyer is a jazz bassist from Hamburg, Germany. After being an in demand sideman in Germany for many years, playing with national artists like Gabriel Coburger, Sandra Hempel, and Sebastian Gille, and international artists like Dusko Goykovich, Nils Landgren, and Delfeayo Marsalis, he made the move to New York City where he currently resides. Maintaining an active touring and recording schedule Jakob has performed alongside Rogerio Boccato, Mike Holober, Jochen Rueckert, Manuel Valera and Steve Wilson, to just name a few, while extensive tours have led him through most of Europe, Australia, India, and the U.S. He has performed at famous venues like the Carnegie Hall in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

JOEY JOHNSON

Tenor saxophonist Joey Johnson has been on the NYC jazz scene for the past 15 years.  He got his start playing saxophone under Paul Jeffrey (Thelonious Monk/Charles Mingus) then later studied at William Paterson University where he learned along side classmates Mark Giuliana, Tyshawn Sorey, John Blake, and many others.  Currently his band Little Gorgeous has a weekly residency at South 4th Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  Joey Johnson  performed at The Blue Note, Smalls, The 55 Bar, The Django, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

MARK LOCKETT

Mark Lockett is an experienced performer, composer and educator who has played with some of the finest jazz musicians on the jazz scene today. Mark started playing drums at the age of 10 and by the age of 17 was playing the drums professional. He graduated from Massey University in 2001 with a Bachelor degree in Jazz performance and has studied with world-renowned international performers such as Joe Morello, Ari Hoenig, John Riley, Henry Cole, Jim Black, Graham Morgan, Andrew Gander, Felix Bloxsom, Ben Vanderwal and Roger Sellers. He has recorded 7 CD's and is the is the author of the “Drum Recipe”.

New York saxophonist Joey Johnson and bassist Jakob Dreyer reunite with New Zealand based drummer Mark Lockett to launch their new album ‘Any Last Requests.’ This release is the result of a residency the trio had for several years at a popular NYC cafe where they performed five nights a week. While paying respect to the jazz tradition, the trio sound new modern and fresh always searching for new ideas, pushing and expanding the musical landscape. Johnson is a mainstay on the NYC scene for more than 15 years appearing regularly, at Bluenote, Smalls, Fat Cat and 55 Bar. Dreyer an in-demand bassist recently relocated to NYC from Hamburg where he has been studying with world-renowned bassist John Patitucci. Lockett resided and worked extensively as a musician in NYC for nearly half a decade has studied with Ari Hoenig and Jim Black.

 

Joey, Jakob and Mark will be touring New Zealand and Australia in October 2018 to officially to release the album.
